Severe Dental Pain / Tooth Pain
If you are unable to schedule an appointment because our offices are closed there are several treatments that may offer temporary relief from severe tooth pain. If you have a fever, shortness or breath, feel fatigued or dizzy as a result of your tooth pain you should seek immediate medical attention. If your discomfort is tolerable until the next day over the counter pain relievers may offer you some comfort. You can also apply a cold compress to the affected area to reduce swelling, which may also offer you some relief from the pain.
Broken Or Knocked Out Tooth
If you have chipped, broken, or lost a tooth do not touch the root, handle the tooth by the crown (chewing surface) only. Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling of the effected tooth. If the damaged or missing tooth is a baby tooth there is no need to save the tooth. If possible rinse the tooth gently with milk or saline and place the tooth in a small container, a sealed zip lock bag will suffice, with the same solution you used to clean the tooth. Bring your tooth with you to our office so our dental staff can determine if the tooth can be salvaged. If you’ve been noticing soreness, pain, or anything else making your teeth and mouth uncomfortable, don’t hesitate to give us a call and schedule an appointment. Please contact one of our offices in Irwin, Greentree, West Mifflin, Monroeville, or Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania.
